🏠 Is it just me or is finding housing in Korea REALLY hard?

Hey guys, I’ve been looking for a place for the past 2 weeks and honestly… I didn’t expect it to be this difficult 😅 Everywhere I check: Deposit is crazy high (like ₩10M+ 😭) Some agents don’t really want to deal with foreigners Contracts are confusing (jeonse vs wolse?? still trying to understand) And some places just straight up say “no foreigners”… I’m currently staying short-term but need to find something soon. 🙏 Need some help: Any foreigner-friendly agents you recommend? Areas in Seoul with reasonable rent ? Is it normal to negotiate deposit/rent? Also… how do you guys make sure you don’t get scammed or lose your deposit? Would really appreciate any advice 🙏 Honestly love living in Korea, but this part is stressful 😅

How to find a house in Korea without getting scammed?

Hi everyone 👋 Finding a place to live in Korea can be confusing — especially if you’re new here 😅 Between deposit (보증금), monthly rent (월세), and contracts , it’s easy to make mistakes. Here are a few tips that can save you a lot of trouble: ✅ 1. Always check the contract carefully Make sure: Your name is correctly written Deposit amount is accurate Move-in / move-out dates are clear 💰 2. Understand the deposit system In Korea: Deposits can be very high (₩5M–₩50M+) Lower deposit → higher monthly rent 🏢 3. Use trusted real estate agents (부동산) Look for agents used to working with foreigners Avoid paying anything before signing a contract 📍 4. Best areas for foreigners Itaewon (very international) Hongdae (students & young crowd) Gangnam (modern, but expensive) ⚠️ 5. Watch out for scams Too cheap = 🚩 No contract = 🚩 Asking full payment upfront = 🚩 ❓ Question to Community Have you rented a place in Korea before? 👉 Share: Good agents Areas to live Things to avoid Let’s help each other out 🙌

Did you pay key money (deposit)? How much?

Curious how much deposit foreigners usually pay for one-room. Please share city + rough amount.
